Indonesia-based tower company Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia and investment company Opti-Teknology Philippines, Inc. have committed to subscribe to new shares in Alliance Towers Corporation.
Alliance Towers is an independent tower company that builds and operates telecommunication towers in the Philippines. The company has secured tower orders from all three major mobile network operators (MNOs) in the Philippines and now owns and operates towers in Visayas and Mindanao as of June 30, 2022.
Bersama Digital and Opti-Tek will own 51% and 49% of Alliance Towers, respectively. The transaction is targeted to complete in September this year.
The Philippine government has a standard tower policy aimed at upgrading the information communication technology infrastructure in the country to better serve the young, digital-savvy population. Alliance Towers intends to partner closely with the MNOs and will play a critical role in supporting the country’s telecom infrastructure.
The shareholders of Opti-Tek and Bersama Digital are highly complementary and will provide Alliance Towers with long-term technical, financial, and local, on-ground support:
- The shareholders of Opti-Tek are the founders of Alliance Towers. They are proven business leaders and entrepreneurs that are deeply entrenched in the business community in the Philippines, with access to significant local resources.
- The controlling shareholders of Bersama Digital founded PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk. in 2004 and continue to control the company today. Since 2012, Tower Bersama has organically built over 12,000 of its nearly 21,000 towers in Indonesia, making it one of the world’s leading organic tower builders.
Sherwin Hing, Chairman of Alliance Towers and Director of Opti-Tek, said, “We are delighted that Bersama Digital has agreed to invest in Alliance Towers. We are confident that Alliance Towers can leverage Tower Bersama’s highly impressive track record as an organic tower builder and operator. The shareholders will actively support Alliance Towers in its objective of providing high-quality telecom infrastructure to enhance the lives of Filipino mobile users.”
“The partnership with Bersama Digital is a major milestone for our company and the industry. This strengthens our capabilities in providing mission-critical infrastructure to MNOs,” added Enrique Y. Gonzalez, director of Alliance Towers and Opti-Tek.
Gavin Caudle, Director of Bersama Digital said, “We are very positive about the Philippines’ independent tower sector and we understand how important it is to have deep, on-ground experience and capability. We are extremely pleased that the Opti-Tek shareholders have agreed to partner with us. We are highly committed to supporting the Alliance Towers management team as the company continues to build and operate an independent telecommunication tower network in the Philippines.”
